Cost questions, answered.

How much does a home EV charger install cost?
It varies depending on the charger you choose, cable run distance, and whether your switchboard needs an upgrade. Most residential installs land between $1,500 and $3,500 supplied and installed. We give you a fixed quote on the free on-site visit — no surprises on the invoice.
Is the quote really free?
Yes — no fee for the on-site visit, no fee for the written quote, no obligation to proceed. We only charge when you confirm the install.
What's included in the quoted price?
Supply of the charger, all cabling and conduits, the install itself, switchboard upgrade if needed, commissioning, testing, and the Certificate of Compliance. One price, no scope creep.
Can the cost be added to my novated lease?
In many cases, yes. The federal FBT exemption (Section 60E) covers most novated lease EVs and the associated home charging infrastructure can be salary-packaged. Talk to your accountant or salary packaging provider — they'll confirm how to add the install cost.
Install Time

How long it takes — start to finish.

How long does the install take?
A typical install is 4–6 hours and done in a single day. If you need a switchboard upgrade as part of the job, allow a full day. We organise everything in one visit — no return trips.
How long from enquiry to install day?
Usually under two weeks. We reply within 24 hours of your enquiry to book the on-site quote (which happens within 2–5 business days). Once you confirm the quote, install is typically scheduled within 1–2 weeks — faster if parts are in stock.
Do I need to be home during the install?
Yes — we'll need access to the switchboard, where the charger will be mounted, and your meter box. We can work around your schedule for the start time, but someone needs to be there for the duration.
Will my power be off all day?
No — we usually only need short isolation periods of 15–60 minutes when working on the switchboard. The rest of the install (cable run, mounting, commissioning) happens with the power on. We'll let you know the planned isolation times before we start.
Switchboard

Switchboard & electrical capacity.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade?
Sometimes. Older homes with ceramic fuses or boards that are already loaded up usually do. Newer homes with modern switchboards usually don't. We assess this on the free on-site quote and tell you straight.
How can I tell if my switchboard is old?
If your board has ceramic fuses (the white porcelain holders with wire inside), no RCDs, or you've added several circuits over the years, it's probably ready for an upgrade — regardless of EV charging. We check this during the free on-site quote.
Do I need single-phase or three-phase power?
Single-phase handles 7kW chargers, which fully charges most EVs overnight (8–10 hours). Three-phase enables faster 11–22kW charging. Most homes have single-phase, which is plenty for daily driving. We confirm what you have on the quote visit.
Can I upgrade to three-phase if I want faster charging?
In most cases yes, but it depends on your street's network supply. We'll check with the local distributor (Ausgrid on the Central Coast) and tell you what's involved — sometimes it's straightforward, sometimes the network needs to do work first.
Brands & Chargers

We install every major EV charger brand.

Bring us the charger, we install it. Or tell us your EV and budget and we'll recommend the right unit.

BMW Wallbox

Premium 7–22kW, Type 2, app-controlled.

Tesla Wall Connector

Native Tesla, works with adapters for other EVs.

Wallbox

Spanish brand. Pulsar Plus is popular.

EO

UK brand. Mini Pro variants common.

Ocular

Australian brand. Solid mid-range.

ZJ Beny

Budget-friendly Type 2 chargers.

Brands & Chargers

Picking the right charger.

Which EV chargers do you install?
All of them. BMW Wallbox, Tesla Wall Connector, EO, Wallbox, Ocular, ZJ Beny — any brand, any car. We can also recommend a charger to suit your setup if you haven't bought one yet.
Do I need a Tesla-specific charger for my Tesla?
No. Teslas use the standard Type 2 plug in Australia, so any Type 2 charger (BMW Wallbox, Wallbox, EO, Ocular etc.) works. The Tesla Wall Connector is a great unit, but it's not required.
What if I change EVs later?
Any Type 2 charger (which is almost all of them) works with any new EV sold in Australia. You're not locked in to a brand. Even Tesla Wall Connectors work with non-Tesla EVs.
App-controlled vs basic — does it matter?
App-controlled chargers (BMW Wallbox, Wallbox, Tesla) let you schedule charging during off-peak hours, monitor energy use, and integrate with solar. If you have solar or off-peak tariffs, an app-controlled unit usually pays itself back. If you just want to plug in and charge, a basic unit is fine and cheaper.
Warranty & Compliance

Workmanship, warranty, certification.

Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — 12 months on our workmanship, plus you keep the manufacturer warranty on the charger itself (BMW, Tesla, etc.). All installs come with a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) signed by a licensed electrician.
What's a Certificate of Compliance and why does it matter?
A CoC is a document signed by a licensed electrician stating the work meets AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian wiring standard). You keep a copy for insurance, sale of property, and peace of mind. Any electrical work without a CoC is technically non-compliant.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — active NSW electrical licence, CEC accreditation (S5891364), Cert IV in Building & Construction, public liability insurance and workmanship cover. Every job, every callout.
What if something goes wrong after install?
Call us. Workmanship issues during the 12-month warranty period — we come back and fix it, no charge. Manufacturer faults with the charger — we'll help you raise the claim with the brand. We don't disappear after the invoice clears.
Rebates & Savings

What you can claim — and what you save.

Are there any rebates I can claim?
NSW EV rebates have ended, but the federal FBT exemption (Section 60E) still applies to most novated lease EVs — meaning your EV and home charging setup can be paid for pre-tax. Speak to your accountant. Some energy retailers also offer EV-friendly tariffs that pair perfectly with overnight charging.
How much do I actually save vs petrol?
Overnight off-peak charging works out around $2 per 100km. Petrol-equivalent for the same 100km is around $15 in a mid-size car. Over 15,000km a year that's $1,950 saved on fuel alone — and that's before solar.
Can I charge from my solar panels?
Yes — and most of our customers do exactly this. We wire your charger to pull from your solar PV during the day when the panels are generating. App-controlled chargers can be set to only charge when there's solar export, so most daytime driving is essentially free.
Should I switch to an EV-friendly energy plan?
Worth a look. Several retailers now offer EV-specific tariffs with cheap overnight rates (often under 10c/kWh between midnight and 6am). Combined with a schedulable charger, that's where the big home charging savings come from.
